Assistants 101
Assistants are specialized AI helpers configured for your business. Some are general-purpose; others are tailored to a specific team or workflow (support, sales, ops, QA, analysis, writing).
What Are Assistants
Assistants are AI helpers tailored to specific tasks. They use your company’s Knowledge Base, integrations (Slack, HubSpot, Gmail, etc.), and optional Automations to give context-aware answers and perform actions.
How to Use Them
- From the Home Screen – Describe a task in the search bar or click an Assistant card
- From the Assistants page – Open an Assistant and click Start Chat
- From Conversations – Continue an existing conversation or start a new one
Assistant Types (Levels)
Assistants have hierarchical levels that affect how they can delegate:
- Expert – Highest level; strategic guidance; can delegate to all lower levels
- Manager – Coordination and management; can delegate to Specialist and Worker
- Specialist – Domain expertise (e.g., technical support); can delegate to Worker
- Worker – Task execution; cannot delegate (lowest level)
Assistant Cards
On the Assistants page, each card shows:
- Assistant icon
- Name and description
- Start Chat button – Begin a conversation
- Manage button (Admin only) – Configure the Assistant
- Duplicate button (Admin only) – Create a copy
Configuration Tabs (Admin)
When managing an Assistant, you’ll use these tabs:
- General – Name, model, instructions, level, suggested questions
- Skills – Q&A pairs for specialized knowledge
- Data Sources – Knowledge Base documents the Assistant can access
- Integrations – External services and internal functions
- Automations – Workflows the Assistant can run
- Sub Agents – Other Assistants this one can delegate to
